Adobe is gearing up to introduce its popular video editing software, Premiere, to iPhone users. The app is now available for preorder on the App Store and is expected to officially launch on September 30. This mobile version promises a variety of features from its desktop counterpart, allowing users to edit and export videos without watermarks. Key functionalities include trimming, layering, and precise frame adjustments, along with support for 4K HDR and automatic captioning with customizable subtitles.
The iPhone app will also integrate advanced AI capabilities through Adobe's Firefly technology, enabling users to create images, audio, and video using text prompts. Additionally, it will provide access to Adobe's extensive stock library filled with music, sound effects, photos, graphics, and more. The app includes an 'Enhance Speech' feature designed to minimize background noise during recordings in bustling environments.
While the app itself is free, users can choose to purchase AI credits and cloud storage to unlock more advanced features. An Android version of Premiere is currently in the works, although Adobe has not yet announced a launch date.
This move comes as competition heats up among platforms vying for content creators who specialize in short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. Earlier this year, Meta launched their own video editing tool, Edits, and Captions, backed by a16z, transitioned to a freemium model to expand its user base.
Adobe's strategy to expand its mobile offerings continues with this release. The company previously rolled out Photoshop for iOS in February and a beta version for Android in June. Additionally, Adobe introduced a dedicated Firefly app for both operating systems in June, reinforcing its commitment to mobile creativity.
