DuckDuckGo, known for its emphasis on privacy-focused technology, has updated its subscription plan to include access to advanced AI models through its platform, Duck.ai. This enhancement comes without any additional cost to users already subscribed to their $9.99 monthly package.

The subscription originally bundled services like VPN, personal information removal, and identity theft protection. Now, it also offers free access to AI models such as Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Haiku, Meta’s Llama 4 Scout, Mistral AI’s Mistral Small 3 24B, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini. For subscribers, newer models like OpenAI’s GPT-4o and GPT-5, Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4, and Meta’s Llama Maverick are also available.

According to DuckDuckGo, these advanced models are designed to handle intricate instructions, maintain context in extensive conversations, and provide more sophisticated responses—all while ensuring user privacy. The company highlighted the advantage of accessing these models through their platform, which prioritizes privacy without compromising on performance.

This move could appeal to those seeking cutting-edge AI tools without being tied to one provider. It positions DuckDuckGo as a strong contender against other platforms like Quora’s Poe, which offers similar access for a lower starting price of $5 per month.

DuckDuckGo plans to continue expanding its offerings with more expensive options that include larger, more sophisticated AI models. However, the company has yet to clarify if there are any usage restrictions within the current plan. This development underscores the growing demand for AI integration across consumer technology services, with privacy remaining a key consideration for many users.
