Google confirmed Tuesday that its annual hardware showcase will take place Aug. 12 in New York City, setting the stage for a major reveal of its next-generation Pixel phones and related gadgets. Buyers should brace for a mix of fresh cosmetic choices and changes to storage options that could push prices higher.

Early leaks and invitation images circulated to the press point to visible styling revisions across the Pixel 11 family. Word circulating in industry circles says the standard model may arrive with much thinner side borders and a deep black camera rail, while a new metallic gold finish could be among the color choices. The Pro variant is expected to be marginally slimmer than last year’s handset, according to the same tips.

There’s also chatter about a foldable Pro model. Those familiar with the matter told outlets the Pixel 11 Pro Fold may trim down the camera housing and shed some weight compared with Google’s prior foldable effort, which would appeal to consumers who found the earlier unit bulky.

One potentially unpopular report suggests Google might drop the 128 GB entry point and begin Pixel 11 storage at 256 GB, a shift that would likely raise starting prices for the lineup. A tech industry analyst I spoke with said consumers could see a noticeable cost bump if that change holds, and advised shoppers to weigh storage needs now rather than assume the lowest-capacity option will be available.

Last year’s show, held Aug. 20, introduced the Pixel 10 series alongside a slate of AI-centered software upgrades and several new devices, including a foldable and updated wearable and audio accessories. Observers will be watching this year to see whether Google tones down celebrity appearances and focuses more tightly on hardware and software details.

Shoppers who want to follow the announcements closely should expect live streams and post-event product pages with specs and pricing. Preorder windows typically open soon after the presentations, so customers planning upgrades may want to hold off on purchases until Google publishes confirmed configurations and official prices.
